Due to the withdrawal of North Meck, Providence put together a series of scrimmages against South Meck and Myers Park. After the Panther’s A-side lost to South Meck 5-43 in week 1, they hit the field with renewed confidence and were ready to roll. Panther 8-man Jeffrey Smith scored the only try of the night with scrumhalf Connor Hicks nailing the conversion, resulting in a final score of 7-0. Top tacklers in the match were outside-center Sean Moran and lock Braedon Butte, each with 5, both getting their first field time of the season after sitting out Match 1 due to injuries.
Providence’s B side played two scrimmages. First was South Meck where 8-man Braedon Butte scored the only try in a 7-24 loss with fullback Ben Vanneste making the conversion. Second was Myers Park who held a depleted Panthers team scoreless, winning 0-20.
